Recipe for Treacle Scones


2 cup wholewheat flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 tablespoon molasses
2/3 cup soya milk


Mix together the dry ingredients in a bowl. Rub in the shortening. Soften the molasses a little & add it with the soya milk to the dry ingredients to make a fairly soft dough. Turn out onto a floured board & roll out to about 1/2" thick. Cut into rounds.

Place scones onto a lightly oiled baking sheet & bake at 425F for 10 to 15 minutes.
