Recipe for Plain Tomato Sauce (salsa Di Pomodoro)


1 quart tomato puree *
3 garlic cloves, sliced
2 sweet basil sprigs
1/2 cup olive oil
1 salt


~* May be canned or home-canned ; amount is approximate.

Heat saucepan. Add oil, basil and garlic and cook only until garlic is softened. Add puree and a little salt. Cook for 20 minutes or until creamy. May be made ahead of time and frozen in recipe-size batches.
