Recipe for Pork Chops Italiano

Ingredients

4 pork loin chops; 1 thick
1 salt; to taste
1 pepper; to taste
1 tablespoon oil, vegetable
1/2 lb mushrooms, fresh; sliced
1 medium onion; chopped
1 small garlic clove; crushed
2 medium green peppers; cut into thin strips
16 oz tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon oregano, whole; or basil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup sherry, dry

Instructions

Sprinkle pork chops with salt and pepper; brown on both sides in hot oil. Place chops in a shallow 2-quart baking dish; cover with mushrooms, and set aside.

Add onion, garlic, and green pepper to skillet; cook until tender. Add remaining ingredients, and simmer 5 minutes; pour over chops. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until chops are done.
