Recipe for Noodle-Cheese Casserole


1/4 lb bacon; sliced
1 pkg noodles, wide (8 ozs); cooked and drained
1 1/4 cup sour cream; at room temperature
1 cup cottage cheese
1/3 cup onion; minced
1 salt and pepper; to taste


Cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 3 tbs of fat; crumble. Set aside. Mix reserved fat with cooked noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese and onion. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon into a buttered casserole. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon. Bake in a preheated moderate oven (350F.) for about 30 mins. Serves 8.

NOTES : This Hungarian baked dish, Turos Csusza, may be served as an accompaniment to meats or poultry or enjoyed as a supper dish.
