Recipe for Yugoslavian Kolachi


1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 tablespoon milk
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla


Good Holiday cookies. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter, cream cheese, milk and sugar. Add egg yolk, vanilla and flour. Mix and knead into a smooth dough. Roll out 1/8 inch thick and cut in squares. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and fill with preserves or almonds or poppy seed is also good. Pick up opposite corners and press together in the center. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes or until slightly brown. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
