Recipe for Hungarian Cabbage Puffs


8 large cabbage leaves
1 each egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 few grains of nutmeg
1/2 lb ground beef
1 cup cooked rice
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup chopped onion


Cook cabbage leaves in saucepan in salted water for 5 minutes. Drain. Combine ground beef, egg, rice, salt, pepper, onion and nutmeg in mixing bowl. Shape meat mixture into balls and wrap each ball in a cabbage leaf. Fasten each with a wooden toothpick. Place the cabbage rolls in a sauce made of 1 cup of cooked tomatoes, 1/4 cup of chopped onion, 1/4 cup margarine, 3/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
