Recipe for Sweet And Sour Sauce Chinese Style


1 centiliter garlic; crushed or finely chopped
1 each onion; finely chopped
1 tablespoon oil
6 tablespoon chicken stock
1 1/2 tablespoon wine vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoon tomato paste or ketchup
2 tablespoon sherry wine
1 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
1 salt
1 freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon chinese chili sauce (opt'l)


Fry the garlic in the oil until soft but not colored. Add the stock and the next five ingredients. Blend the cornstarch to a paste with 1/4 cup water and stir in. Cook for 1 minute. Taste and season, adding the chili sauce if wished.
