Recipe for Real Italian Spaghetti


1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb italian sausage
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
2 large bell peppers, chopped
1 (4 oz.) jar whole mushrooms, draine; d
1 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried whole thyme
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon dried whole basil
3/4 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
2 tablespoon garlic powder, divided
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 pkg spaghetti grated parmesan cheese


Brown ground beef and sausage. Drain. Stir in next 13 ingredients. Add 1 tablespoon garlic powder, stirring well. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Stir in an additional tablespoon of garlic powder; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Add Mozzarella cheese and stir well. Cover and simmer an additional 15 minutes.

Prepare spaghetti according to package directions. Serve sauce over spaghetti. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
