Recipe for Zesty Stewed Tomatoes


3 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
6 large tomatoes, peeled & quartered
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves


1. In a deep, 2-quart, heat-resistant, non-metallic casserole melt butter or margarine in Microwave Oven 30 seconds. Add onion and green pepper, and heat, uncovered, in Microwave Oven 3 minutes or until lightly browned. 2. Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine. 3. Heat, covered, in Microwave Oven 5 to 6 minutes or until tomatoes are very tender. 5tir occasionally. Serve hot or cold
