Recipe for Salsa Verde (Green Sauce)


2 medium onions -- chopped
1 cup canned diced green chiles
2 1/2 yellow hot chiles -- diced
1 cup canned whole tomatoes -- crushed
1 tablespoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup chopped green onions
2 tablespoon chopped bell pepper
2 quart beef broth


Combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, let simmer 1 hour. If needed, add roux to thicken.

Roux: Melt 1 stick of butter. Blend in 3/4 cup sifted flour. Can be refrigerated until needed.
